Few places around the globe offer the world of choices that travellers can experience in Guatemala, from the cobblestone streets of colonial Antigua, the stunning beauty of volcano-ringed Lake Atitlan, solemn Maya ruins to rugged rain-forest adventure. On this tour you will discover the wonders of Guatemala.

This is an itinerary suggestion and it can be tailored to your wishes.

Day 1

Guatemala City / Antigua

Guests are met at Guatemala City airport & transferred to Antigua.

Day 2

Chichi Market / Lake Atitlan

Today you will visit the famous market at Chichi. Time for shopping in this fabulous craft market and an opportunity to see Maya rituals being performed in the Catholic Church before transferring on to Lake Atitlan.

Day 3

Lake Atitlan

This morning you will take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlan (30min) to the village of San Juan La Laguna to visit a textile cooperative, medicinal plant centre and local naif painter workshops. Then we go on to Santiago where you will have lunch in a local hotel and tour the village visiting the Maya God Maximon and learn about the textiles, spiritualism and beliefs of the T’zutujil Maya. Return to hotel at Lake Atitlan.

Day 4

Antigua

After breakfast you will visit the colourful and authentic market at Solola and enjoy a tour of the market. Lunch will be in a traditional restaurant on route back to Antigua There will also be a short tour of the small Maya Archaeology site at Iximche.

Day 5

Antigua

In the morning you will take a half day walking tour of Antigua (3-4hr). This tour will visit the main square, Palace, Cathedral, La Merced Church & San Francsico Church. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 6

Tikal

You will transfer to Guatemala City (Unguided) to join the morning flight to Flores. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Tikal National Park and have some time to relax. After lunch you will visit the Yaxha National Park (approx 1hr) to explore this atmospheric lakeside site ending with refreshments & wonderful views at sunset over the rainforest canopy from atop the main temples.

Day 7

Tikal / Guatemala City

Today you will enjoy a tour to explore the amazing UNESCO protected Mayan Temple site of Tikal where huge Mayan temples rise above the jungle canopy and monkeys and tropical birds are abundant in the surrounding rainforest. After lunch you will drive to Flores airport and fly to Guatemala City. At the airport In Guatemala City you will be met by a driver for an unguided transfer to your hotel in Guatemala City.

Day 8

Guatemala City

Today you will be met at your hotel by a driver for an unguided transfer to the airport in time for your international flight out.

Extension Tour to Belize Beach, Costa Rica and Copan Ruins/Honduras are available on request.
