Pantanal and Bonito

The Pantanal was named by UNESCO as both a World Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage of Humanity site. The world’s largest wetland area, it is home to the greatest diversity of species in the Americas, including approximately 670 species of bird, 242 fish species, 50 species of reptile, many different species of mammal, and 1500 plant species. This region is a true paradise for nature enthusiasts – whether your passion is fishing, boating, bird or wildlife watching, horse riding or hiking, your greatest dreams will be fulfilled in the Pantanal!

Bonito: Translated in English as “beautiful”, the name of this location is considered and understatement by many of its visitors, such is its powerful appeal! As recently as one decade ago, this region remained undiscovered. Fortunately, the ecologically sustained tourism movement had already taken root before tourists began to arrive here in large numbers. To this day, strict regulations control the level and extent of human impact on the natural treasures of the Bonito region. Despite their location far inland, Bonito’s caves offer some of the most extraordinary diving environments in Brazil. Whether above or below the water level, you will be tantallised by this wonderland of waterfalls, crystal-clear rivers, grottoes, caves and craters.
